Biology brought to life: laboratory guidebook

Intended as a guide for teachers to promote active learning in the biology classroom, this book presents the philosophy of active learning and guidelines for using open-ended experiments, co-operative learning and exercises that enhance learning skills to promote active participation by a wide range of students.

It provides practical advice about how to build a classroom community in which students are active participants, not simply receptacles of information and how to foster curiosity and creativity while teaching the rigorous application of the scientific method.
