Assessment of performance unit: science at age 13 and 15 - sample questions

This APU Science report for teachers sets out the view of science that underpinned decisions about what to assess in the surveys of students at ages 13 and 15. The view led to attention being focused on activities associated with solving problems scientifically.

These activities were expressed in the assessment framework in terms of categories and sub-categories of science performance. The sub-category ‘applying concepts‘ required the identification of biological, physical and chemical concepts which are listed in broad terms in the report.
