Synoptic skills in advanced physics

This book provides the ideal advice and practice in preparing students for the new synoptic element of A level, for which 40% of marks are allocated in the A2 exams. It is written by a principal examiner who knows what students have to produce to be successful in this synoptic element.

A large part of the book is taken up with practice synoptic questions, many written specifically for this book. In addition there are chapters focussing on developing physics skills for written, coursework and practical exams, with specific reference to the synoptic paper.

There are opportunities to practice improving and maintaining links between different subject areas, including data analysis, text comprehension, essay planning and problem solving. Examiner's comments concerning the structure of questions, the points being addressed and advice to eliminate misunderstandings are also included.
