Degrees Kelvin: the genius and tragedy of William Thomson

William Thomas, later Lord Kelvin, was one of the giants of Victorian science and engineering. The establishment of the temperature of absolute zero and the Kelvin scale was but one of his many achievements, which included overseeing the laying of the first transatlantic cable.
