Steve Gibson

Senior PDL

The students in my care have regularly left with more self-confidence, a greater community spirit and a positive outlook on life. Through careful preparation and targeting barriers to learning, I've ensured that every student has the best opportunity I can give them to succeed, both in the classroom and in later life.

Why should teachers engage with CPD?

Teachers should engage with STEM Learning's CPD both because we have a responsibility to give our students the best possible preparation to succeed in later life, and to model what it is to be a lifelong learner, recognising that there is always a fresh way to approach every situation.

Why I'm passionate about education

A STEM education equips us to more fully engage in the world, so that we all become world changers. A engineer friend of mine used his dissertation project to design a way of moving a wheelchair using head movements. He now works for the NHS personalising support for those without limbs and other mobility issues, applying his skills to change each individual patient's world. We can change somebody's world, and a great STEM education ensures that we are better equipped with the tools to do so.
