Sarah Atkinson

Senior technician STEM coordinator

I am a senior technician, HLTA science specialist with over 20 years experience. I have organised and ran STEM clubs and events in secondary and primary schools. In 2009, I was honoured to be one of the technicians to receive the Salter National Technicians award. Currently, I work closely with the National STEM Learning Centre delivering CPD to my fellow technicians. As a consultant, I have assisted schools with their organisation of prep room management and improved the service that the prep room has been able to provide.

Why should teachers engage with CPD?

To improve confidence, gain new ideas, network with like minded individuals, reinvigorate their teaching, and have fun whilst gaining valuable new skills

Why I'm passionate about education

I am passionate about STEM subjects and the opportunities it give students to develop in their academic learning and improve their future career prospects. I am equally as passionate about the training of science technicians, and in the promoting of the exceptional work carried out by technicians, supporting and enhancing high-quality practical work in schools.
