Jo Hodge
Senior STEM Professional Development Leader - Computing
I've been a Computing lead and TLR post holder supporting schools for over 10 years. I've achieved my ICT mark and am currently supporting new leads working towards CQF. I am a digital schoolhouse regional lead teacher who offers free computing workshops for local schools. Part of my new role will be supporting other schools on the DSH program. I've also written computing books for the overseas curriculum through DSH. I am a Barefoot Ambassador delivering free workshops for teachers since 2015 and a CAS community lead and master teacher who has delivered training for teachers and most recently at the Cas computing conference. I have supported Teacher CPD though my role as a STEM ambassador and have been involved in writing planning for Barefoot and the Teach Computing curriculum.
Why should teachers engage with CPD?
CPD develops a deeper understanding of a subject, and offers teachers great ideas based on current research, to take back to their school and classroom. The range of CPD options means that there is something for everyone, no matter their level of experience. It is delivered by teachers who can share their own experiences alongside high-level accredited CPD.
Why I'm passionate about education
I am a passionate advocate of physical computing and consistently use computing across the curriculum to engage and inspire pupils. STEM is so important in embedding key, real world skills such as creativity and resilience, and it's fun!
