STEM Learning provides and supports a number of enrichment activities through our various programmes, including STEM Clubs, using space as a context with ESERO-UK, Nuffield Research Placements, and competitions and challenges, such as Cyber Centurion and the STEM Enrichment Festival provides an opportunity to take part in CPD across some of these programmes and gain information about how your school can engage with others. Sessions will be available from the STEM Enrichment Partnerships and other partner organisations.
We are very pleased to announce that our guest speakers are now confirmed:
Laura Tobin, TV Meteorologist
Laura will be talking about her trip to an international weather summit, in Austria, looking at the impact of climate change on people, the environment, and tourism. She’ll also speak about her trip to Svalbard last year, and how the effects of warming there has a direct impact on our own weather, in the UK.
Professor Andrew Shepherd, from the University of Leeds
Professor Andrew Shepherd is a Professor of Earth Observation at the University of Leeds, Director of the NERC Centre for Polar Observation and Modeling, and Principal Scientific Advisor to the European Space Agency CryoSat satellite mission. He uses satellites to study the physical processes of the Earth’s climate.
Professor Phil Hart, from Cranfield University
Phil Hart is the Professor and Director of Energy and Power, at Cranfield University. Phil works with business and government across energy and renewables and is a STEM Ambassador.
The festival will start with a dinner, exhibition and keynote talk on the evening of Friday 10 June, before the full day of sessions on Saturday 11 June and you can book your place here.
