Deliver effective STEM activities with our programme of online CPD
STEM Learning has developed a free programme of online CPD, aimed at STEM Ambassadors and other volunteers who undertake STEM activities with young people.
In 2016, we undertook some research and asked our community of over 30,000 STEM Ambassadors about their training needs as volunteers. The consensus was that learning how to undertake practical activities was a priority.
To respond to this feedback, and in conjunction with our network of STEM Ambassador Hubs, we have developed the Inspiring Young People in STEM programme. This will launch on FutureLearn on 15 January 2018 and includes the following four courses, which can all be accessed free of charge.
Inspiring young people in STEM programme
- Inspiring young people in STEM: resources and diversity - 15 January 2018
- Inspiring young people in STEM: planning activities – 29 January 2018
- Inspiring young people in STEM: activities and improving communication – 7 May 2018
- Inspiring young people in STEM: using feedback to improve – 21 May 2018
From making use of feedback to communicating with young people, these courses have been designed to equip volunteers with the skills and confidence to inspire young people in STEM subjects and careers.
Learners will be able to take part at their own pace and at a time and place which suits them. Each course last two weeks and will take approximately three hours each week to complete.
Discussion and learning from the experience of others will be an important element of the course and can help volunteers to get the most from the programme.
