Gender equality in STEM

Produced in 2011 by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the theme of equality and diversity. It describes how Doncaster College has taken action to promote and embed gender equality, particularly in relation to engineering and technology. The college held a gender equality event aimed at learners, staff and local partners to raise awareness of the challenges and to send a clear message about the college’s commitment to widening participation. The women in science, engineering and technology team were invited to contribute to the day. As a result, a new partnership was formed with the aim of increasing the number of females on STEM courses.
