Looking at Learning in Science

Produced by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this resource is for teachers wishing to explore a variety of approaches to improving teaching and learning in science. The booklet contains background information and reflections on the individual video sequences, and offers questions for further discussion.

It is structured so that CPD session leaders can, at a glance, plan how they might use it. For instance the sections called ‘Reflections’, ‘Observations’ and ‘Questions’ contain notes that could be given to groups of teachers to use after watching the video sequences. These are starting points and indicative questions that can be built on.

The video clips have been designed so that they can be used in sequence or in short sections. These include:
* understanding abstract ideas
* qualitative and quantitative learning
* using discussion
* learning from learners
