Summary

 

A package of 2 half day sessions, providing transferable activities that can be used to aid with adapting your teaching at KS3 to meet the needs of your learners and for assessment purposes. Lunch provided. 

Assessment of KS3 ScienceIdeal for those with responsibility for KS3, or with an interest in assessment, this course is designed to help you understand how KS3 assessment has changed since the removal of KS3 Science SATs. We will look at why we need to assess, as well as different methods and what we do with the information generated.

Adaptive teaching in scienceWherever you are in your teaching career, this course is designed to help you understand what we mean by adaptive teaching, apply this to the context of the science classroom and identify strategies to support your pupils. We will unpick the difference between differentiation and adaptive teaching, before looking at a variety of strategies

There is a 70% Teacher Release Payment available from STEM Learning. Please note that this does not deduct the fee immediately.  You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the subsidy will be released back to the school once the invoice has been paid and attendance at the session has been confirmed.

  • Consider the different methods of assessment and their associated benefits and disadvantages
  • Understand the difference between differentiation and adaptive teaching
  • Appreciate the importance of adaptive teaching for the success of your pupils
  • Have considered strategies for adaptive teaching including scaffolding & for stretch and challenge
