Summary

Using everyday contexts in primary science helps to make science more recognisable and accessible. It is a route to enable children to engage with abstract and challenging ideas.

This two day course will explore ways to introduce everyday contexts including people, places, materials and problems. These strategies will enable pupils to understand the practical applications of science and explore the career opportunities available to them.

Participants will discover how the use of stories, role-play, and problem solving can help children to develop an understanding of the world around them.

The sessions will be structured to support teachers to plan a curriculum that meets the needs of the children in their school whilst developing their individual science capital.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.
