Summary

Do you have a temperamental 3D printer that you would like help with? Are you looking for health and safety guidance or assistance with managing filament and equipment? Maybe you would like to spend some time working with experts on how you can produce better 3D printed products?

This course is perfect for technicians who are maintaining and using filament fed 3D printers in a design and technology department.

Over the two days, you will be hands-on with CAD software, slicing software and a range of 3D printers, looking at topics such as creating a print file, using non-standard filament, altering printer settings, warping prints, machine maintenance, managing filament, managing print files, dissolvable filament, methods for finishing models and troubleshooting files that won’t print.

We will look at the safe management of 3D printers and their materials, including maintenance, extraction and risk assessments. We will also look at file sharing sites and future developments in 3D printing products.

Sessions will be a mix of hands-on and presentations, with opportunity to ask questions throughout and where possible, we will do our best to tailor content to specific machines.

Laptops are provided for all participants and we will be using the latest educational version of Autodesk Inventor for any CAD sessions. However, if you are an experienced CAD user, you are welcome to bring your own device with your own choice of CAD software. The content will primarily focus on how filament printers are used in the classroom, although other non-filament technologies will be mentioned.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.
