Summary

This course will show teachers how to use the curiosity and enthusiasm generated through science, to connect with, support and enhance children's learning in maths and English and improve progress in the core subjects.

Teachers will identify opportunities to apply mathematical skills and develop high standards of language and literacy through effective science teaching. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum planning that will enable children to enhance their learning in maths and English through science based contexts.

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • describe strategies to improve children's progress in Mathematics and English through science
  • couple good teaching in Maths and English with interesting and imaginative science contexts
  • plan a whole school approach to embedding Maths and English in science
