Developing a STEM curriculum in KS3 design and technology TY245 / A17

Are you a teacher looking to bring more STEM into design and technology?

Are you running a STEM club in design and technology and looking for more ideas?

This two day course is vital for any design and technology specialist looking to make their department a hub for STEM.

Sessions will look at:

• examples of how different schools are approaching STEM education in design and technology
• how employers can be used to support STEM in your lessons
• strategies for bringing STEM into key stage 3 schemes of work in all areas, including food
• working with employers to give students real life experience of STEM careers
• practical projects and ideas to use in clubs and half/full day enrichment activities
• working effectively with your maths, science and computing departments
• external support and resources, an overview of the STEM landscape
• generating funding for STEM activities
• encouraging more girls into STEM and more specifically, engineering
• the future of STEM industries and discussion on careers that students might be doing in 10-20 years' time

This is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course.
