Are you leading design and technology in your school and looking to develop your own knowledge and support your staff to deliver an inspiring, high quality design and technology curriculum?

Aimed specifically at design and technology subject leaders and teachers with a strong interest in leading design and technology. You will gain a deeper understanding of the aims of the curriculum, develop your own subject knowledge and identify the role subject leaders play in developing a whole school approach to teaching the programmes of study for KS1 and KS2.

As this is a residential course, fees include meals and accommodation for the duration of the course. Course fees vary for participants outside the UK. Please contact enquiries@stem.org.uk for more information.

Course Leader: Gareth Pimley, Primary Education Consultant

Building on his experience of teaching in Shropshire primary schools and eighteen years with Shropshire Advisory Service, Gareth provides advice, support and training on a freelance basis to schools, local authorities, companies and other organisations. Gareth has a national reputation for his work in design and technology, having previously been seconded to the Design and Technology Association as Assistant Chief Executive. He is a member of the national curriculum expert advisory group for design and technology and was a major contributor to the final draft of the national curriculum 2014 programmes of study.

Outcomes

  • learn new project ideas, knowledge and skills to deliver the national curriculum
  • improve your school’s provision for design and technology
  • develop awareness of organisations and resources available to support your teaching
