Discussing the network's great work with Nick Gibb MP, Minister DfE.

Dear all,

As I mentioned to those who were able to be with us for Tuesday's SLP day, Sir Mike Tomlinson and I had a meeting with Nick Gibb, DfE Minister with responsibility for the network, on Wednesday afternoon. We had a constructive discussion, and the Minister was particularly keen to hear about the examples of positive impact of SLP work that we were able to pass on following Tuesday's meeting.

We thanked the Minister for the Department's on-going support for the network, exemplified by the recent news of continued funding until March 2016 (although we await details of amounts and expectations). We also stressed the huge importance of the network as a major national asset, which is increasingly viewed internationally as an excellent example of how to support science and STEM education more widely.

The Minister was very grateful for the work going on across the network, and we are keen to provide him and his officials with more examples that they can use in speeches and other discussions. So, if you have things you would like us to highight, please post them here or get in touch with me or Vaughan Lewis directly, and we will make sure you have an opportunity to shine!

With best wishes and thanks for all your efforts and hard work supporting science education,

Yvonne.
