STEM Learning and the Vertex Foundation continue to improve young people's lives through STEAM education

STEM Learning and the Vertex Foundation are continuing to work together to enhance the lives of young people through STEAM education. Thanks to their latest donation, hundreds of primary and secondary school students will be introduced to the possibilities of rewarding STEM professions.

The Vertex Foundation, a longstanding supporter of STEM Learning’s ENTHUSE Charitable Trust, continues to make a significant impact. Their most recent generous donation will enable teachers to access high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and tailored wraparound activities to meet their specific needs – increasing their confidence as well as improving STEM outcomes for the young people they teach.

The funding will also support students directly by enabling post-16 students from underserved communities in Oxfordshire and London to participate in exciting research placements. These placements will be hosted by businesses and academic institutions — allowing students to engage in research activities, enhancing their STEM skills and confidence.

Additionally, this summer, students from underserved communities will have the chance to attend a four-day STEM Camp, where they will participate in tailored STEM lessons for 3 of the days with the final day set aside for practical activities to contextualise their learning.

Mayaz Rahman, Head of Fundraising at STEM Learning, expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership with the Vertex Foundation: "We’re so grateful for their continued support. This funding will transform the prospects of students, inspiring them to pursue STEM education and careers in the future."

Melodie Knowlton, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Vertex Foundation, emphasised the importance of early exposure to science: "It’s our job to inspire the next generation to love science, and this programme provides opportunities for students to engage in hands-on STEM activities, ask questions, and be inspired."
