Jeannette is an experienced teacher, Advanced Skills Teacher, and STEM Learning Facilitator, who has taught across the primary age range for 23 years, in a variety of locations and settings in England, (including inner London). Jeannette is also a Fellow of the Primary Science Teaching Trust, having won a Primary Science Teacher of the Year Award (in 2011), which was endorsed in 2013 by the RMetSoc; the latter for her PSTT project ‘Let’s Go Science Trails’, which has since been expanded to become ‘Let’s Go STEM Trails’. Both these projects have been published into books which are still used across the UK and internationally to support educationalists keen to deliver aspects of their curriculum through using the immediate environment around their settings. Despite leaving teaching recently, Jeannette still delivers training as an educational consultant. She is passionate about the outdoors and getting children of all ages to engage with the environment immediately outside their classroom or front doors. She believes in using the outdoors to deliver a variety of curriculum subjects, and by doing so, will foster an important relationship between children and their immediate surroundings. Only when they care about their environment, will children seek to look after it. And as with all relationships, that can only happen when you spend time in and with it.
