I am the founder of CollaboratEd, an award-winning provider of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for teachers. During my career as a teacher and teacher educator I have won a number of teaching awards for my creative and innovative learning and teaching approaches and for the integration of technology in education, including an award at the Worldwide Innovative Education Forum, 2007.
I have extensive experience in successfully delivering blended learning solutions and training in a range of sectors, from Primary School to A-level (3-19), as well as in developing competency-based courses for Initial Teacher Training courses.
My learning and teaching approaches have contributed to raising standards in all the institutions I worked with and the feedback my training programmes receive is 100% positive, with over 97% of delegates rating courses Excellent or Very Good.
I have over 20 year of teaching experience and 2018 I completed a Master’s Degree in Teacher Education at the University of Oxford. My research and development dissertation focused on coaching and reflective teaching and was awarded a distinction for its insights in teacher education practices.
I am currently an Associate Lecturer at Cardiff Metropolitan University for their Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Science with Physics. In these roles I frequently engage in school-based teacher education and develop competency-based courses for graduate students.
I am also an Institute of Physics (IOP) Professional Support Coach and a Charter Physicist (IOP) and a Chartered Science Teacher (ASE), as well as a Senior Facilitator for STEM Learning. In these roles I update and train other coaches and teacher educators in the latest research and best practices in education.
In 2018 I also developed and delivered a training resource pack and programme to engage girls in STEM learning and careers across Vietnam. I created a programme of residential workshops for over 120 undergraduate female STEM Ambassadors, STEM teachers and university lecturers in teacher education. The aim of the project was to empower undergraduate students to become role models and ambassadors in schools across Vietnam and work in partnership with local schools and universities to run STEM workshops with students. This programme was commissioned to CollaboratEd by partners like British Council Vietnam, the British Embassy, Microsoft and BK Holdings. The outcomes of this project were very encouraging and fostered real change in the participating schools. For example, a significant percentage of school principals, who were previously skeptical about embedding STEM skills in their curriculum, were highly positive about our programme and made comments like “Expand this teaching structure to the whole school, planned for application by the Quarter. We need British Council's specialists to make classes more exciting for our students”.
I frequently lead revision courses for students at GCSE and A-level across different schools in the UK to enhance students' knowledge and understanding, as well as exam techniques.
