Mathematical skills in triple science

Providing advice and guidance on the teaching of the more rigorous mathematics content of the new separate science GCSEs, including mathematics resources which science teachers can use to deepen students’ understanding of the mathematical concepts before applying them in science.

In order to be able to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding in science, students will need to be taught to select and apply the appropriate areas of mathematics relevant to each topic as set out in the GCSE science subject content. This mathematics will need to be taught at levels up to the requirements specified in GCSE mathematics, which will present challenges for many science teachers. These resource packages aim to provide advice and guidance on the teaching of the more rigorous mathematics content of the new separate science GCSEs, including mathematics resources which science teachers can use to deepen students’ understanding of the mathematical concepts before applying them in science.
