Scavengers workshops: Making & Tinkering with upcycled e-waste

There are several variations to the introductory workshop, for more details please link to:

Working in groups we will build three simple mechanical noisy machines using the components that we find inside our kit boxes. Everything inside was discarded, rescued from waste and upcycled. Using basic components we can learn a lot about sound, electronics and electromagnetism. We can also make some amazing sounds such as the Robot Chicken and the Mechanical Samba Machine.

Main Learning areas:

- Circuits: current, voltage, resistance, components, electromagnetism
- Sound: vibrations, frequency/pitch, amplitude/volume, longitudinal waves
- Sustainability: causes & consequences of electronic waste, true cost, behaviour change, upcycling
- Coding: programmable devices, visual & command line code, design, sensors
