Nuffield Maths 5-11

Nuffield Foundation provide these resources from the Nuffield Maths 5-11 project, which was originally based on the Nuffield Mathematics Teaching Project, developed in the 1960s.

The initial project produced only guidance for teachers, parents and teacher trainers, but was subsequently reviewed and extended, following requests from teachers, to include a full range of materials for students.

The project developed a cooperative approach to supporting teachers and training events, organised through advisers from Local Education Authorities, were held in the mid 1970's.

 I do and I understand was the project's key approach to the mathematical development of students, which began with activity and experimentation. This led to mathematical thinking and communication which, in turn, developed the attainment of skills.

The worksheets from the project were intended to provide practise and build confidence.
