(London Two) Subject Knowledge for Physics Teaching: Energy SK104 / SK104LT1
Summary
The blended learning course, delivered by The Ogden Trust, supports non-specialist teachers of physics to develop their subject knowledge and pedagogical approaches for teaching Energy at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Learning takes place over an 8-week period and includes the following:
- Full day face-to-face session.
- Two online webinars.
- Supported online study, including activities and quizzes.
- Face-to-face half day.
Topics covered are: the energy stores and pathways, gravitational and kinetic energy, power and efficiency, energy resources, fuels and energy usage. All required practicals are covered in the face-to-face sessions.

Who is it for?
This course is only available for teachers in England who have QTS and do not have a physics ITT qualification.
This course is not available for teachers at independent or fee-paying schools.

Outcomes
The SKPT blended learning CPD will:
- develop teaching skills and confidence in delivering lessons that bring physics to life in the classroom.
- consider mathematical problem solving, conceptual challenges, practical work and pedagogical reflections.
- link teachers to a supportive learning network led by experienced physics practitioners.
