Summary
Your local opportunity to hear from AQA’s Head of Curriculum for Science on the first sitting of the new GCSEs specification and review what we have learned.
Hosted by the University of Wolverhampton, the Black Country SLP in conjunction with AQA and other science partners offer the chance for you to meet with other local teachers to review the GCSEs for summer 2018, and look at the teaching and learning behind the examinations.
This conference will include
· an opening keynote from Julian Clarke - Head of Curriculum – Science at the AQA, looking at the first sitting of the new specification.
· a series of workshops to support the teaching and learning of GCSE science focusing on areas including Maths Skills, Practical Science and Making Science engaging
· An additional focus on wider science support
· An opportunity to hear from a number of partners to help you enrich your science curriculum.

Outcomes
As a result of attending this conference you will:
· Have an understanding of the lessons to be learned from Summer 18 examinations
· Understand the teaching and learning skills needed to be successful for the new GCSEs
· Develop strategies to support your current year 11 cohort
· Understand the support for your school to enrich your science curriculum
