Network Rail STEM Ambassador training

STEM Ambassadors from Network Rail attended a practical and hands-on training day at the National STEM Learning Centre on 22 November 2018.

This training is the first of its kind, developed following an exciting new partnership between STEM Learning and Network Rail. As part of this partnership, we are developing a whole new set of resources for primary and secondary schools, all of which are themed around the problem of leaves on the line and other rail-related challenges faced by the industry every day.

With help from Network Rail’s STEM Ambassadors, students will investigate the problems faced by the sector and will be tasked with using their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills to find a solution.

These new resources will be officially launched during British Science Week in March 2019, but these STEM Ambassadors were among the first to get a sneak peek of the resources and even got a chance to try out the activities for themselves.

In January, the next cohort of STEM Ambassadors will be trained, giving them an insight into the resources and the important role they will play in the classroom.
