Maths Inspiration is a national programme of interactive maths lecture shows for teenagers. This summer they have teamed up with the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme to present shows in five venues across the UK: Edinburgh, Lincoln, Liverpool, London and Portsmouth.

The aim is to give 14-16 year olds a chance to experience the UK's most inspiring maths speakers live in theatres, presenting mathematics in the context of exciting, real-world applications. This series of shows is entitled “Playing for Real” and is focussed on the mathematics and importance of games.

“If you think games are just for fun, then think again! Games contain some of the most important maths you'll ever need in everyday life, from managing money to out-thinking competitors. Our speakers will demonstrate the unlikely usefulness of probability, puzzles and percentages. You'll get the chance to play some games, and you could even win a prize.”

You can find further details about dates and details either in the STEM directory and on the Maths Inspiration events page.
