The Big Spotacular: raising money for Children in Need

The Big Spotacular

From 13-17 November 207, thousands of nurseries and schools will be wearing spotty fancy dress, selling spotty cakes and taking part in sponsored spotty challenges. This is all to raise money for BBC Children in Need, helping to change the lives of disadvantaged children from across the UK.

Children will also participate in an exclusive fundraising challenge for 2017 – Pudsey’s Round Pound Countdown. Challenge your pupils to collect old pound coins that went out of circulation on 15 October 2017.

Jonathan Rigby, Director of Marketing and Fundraising, BBC Children in Need, said:

“The money raised really will make a huge difference to children and young people up and down the UK who are facing disadvantage. So, whether it’s hosting a spotty picnic or taking part in a spotty sponsored footie match, get your hands on a fundraising pack and get involved!”

Schools who took part in the Big Spotacular last year found that participating proved to have a positive impact on children’s teamwork, communication and confidence skills.

The Big Spotacular has a host of new online resources for this year, including advice to support SEND learning, posters and a Pudsey coin full, as well as updated curriculum-linked lesson content.

Nurseries and schools can request a free Spotacular fundraising kit, which contains fundraising ideas and resources.
