STEMbotics: Robotics & Coding
STEMbotics: Robotics and Coding workshops are designed to ignite a passion for STEM and Computing. Using a variety of robots, students will design, build and code their very own robots to complete a range of challenges.
In KS1 and Lower KS2 we use LEGO WeDo 2.0 to introduce students to instructional robotic builds and entry-level block coding. Students progress to designing and coding their own robots and competing against class mates in different challenges.
In Upper KS2 and KS3 we use LEGO EV3 Mindstorms. Our tasks range from instructional builds to designing and building their own robots to complete various engineering challenges. Students will learn to code touch sensors, colour sensors, gyro sensors and supersonic sensors and apply the technology to their designs to carry out tasks.
Children will complete a variety of Computing curriculum objectives in both KS1 and KS2.
Students will develop their knowledge of key vocabulary and apply it within the session.
Other outcomes are dependent upon the challenge. We will communicate with you to adapt our sessions and ensure key objectives are met in each session.To book this activity, please contact:

Grants for school
The Royal Institution runs two enrichment and enhancement grant schemes. Grants of up to £500 are available to UK-registered state schools to host a STEM activity selected from the STEM Directory.
There are a number of other organisations that offer grants to schools.
