STAR Centre
The STAR Centre in keighley is a lively science hub that uses space as a theme to encourage learners into undertaking science related subjects.
Come and explore our space world. Undertake lifelike Mission Control simulations, drive a planetary rover in our Astrobotics area, conduct experiments in our Laboratory and explore the universe in our Cosmodome.
We welcome school groups and are able to run programmes for key stages 2,3 and 4. We also welcome voluntary groups such as Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Air Cadets and more. We also provide an ideal venue for corporate team building and problem solving events.
We specialise in accommodating Primary and Secondary School visits to the STAR Centre. We are able to cater for groups of up to 40 students for half day or full day sessions. We have developed a complete learning package which encompasses Space Science, The Planets, Computer Assisted Learning, Living in Space, Space Travel, Robotics, Prototyping and Manufacture and a Space Walk!
Sessions can be tailored to meet national curriculum requirements as activities can be made to match curriculum criteria. Why not learn The Earth, Sun and Moon with us using cutting edge hardware?
Our unique learning centre comprises of several zones:
- A Mission Control with 20 computers
- A Briefing Room with 3D widescreen digital video projection and surround sound
- A Fabrication Laboratory with a 3D Printer, Laser Cutter, Milling Machine and Lathe
- A Cosmodome with planetarium and state of the art 360 projection system
- An Astrorobotics Laboratory used to study systems of control and drive rovers on the Moon Landscape
