Summary
This half day conference will include inspirational speakers and workshops focusing on climate education, sustainability and how to use our local area to teach the early years and primary science curriculums.
The conference includes an opportunity to have a tour of Eureka! and a marketplace of science and education stallholders including Wirral Country Park and Eco Schools, PSTT, Cheshire & Wirral Computing Hub.

Keynote - What does quality climate change and sustainability education look like?
- Education plays a crucial role in shaping future generations' understanding and action towards climate change. We will explore what quality climate education looks like in primary schools, drawing on research informed practice. From integrating sustainability practices into the curriculum to fostering a sense of environmental stewardship among students, this session will provide insights and strategies for educators looking to cultivate a generation of climate-conscious citizens
Workshops include
- Nurturing a love of nature in the EYFS - This session shares a range of ideas to encourage children's love of and respect for the world on their doorstep while developing various areas of learning and reflecting on the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Teaching Primary Science Outdoors - This hands-on outdoor session will support you in planning and teaching science lessons outdoors. We will focus on planning for, and teaching, conceptual understanding and working scientifically objectives outdoors
- Using your school building and grounds to investigate climate change and sustainability - In this workshop we’ll explore quick wins to use your school building and grounds (no matter how big they are) to investigate climate change and sustainability.
- Nature resource boxes - delivered by Wirral Eco Schools
There is a £35 subsidy available for maintained schools and academies. Please note that this does not deduct the fee immediately. You will receive an invoice for the full amount and the subsidy will be released back to the school once the conference has been attended and the invoice has been paid.
