Session – Curriculum workshop 

Is your curriculum delivering the outcomes you want in science? Does it support your teachers to deliver high quality lessons?

This workshop is an opportunity to explore and compare the approaches taken by different departments and allow you to reflect on your current practice and develop next steps. We will look at how curriculum design, lesson delivery and quality assurance triangulate and allow opportunity for you to ask questions and share with other science leaders how to ensure impactful learning and improving outcomes from your science curriculum.

Reflected on how your curriculum is meeting all learners needs

Explored key features of effective science curriculum design that lead to great pupil outcomes

Identified next steps for your current curriculum

Session – supporting SEND and disadvantaged learners in your science lessons 

More than ever the need for learning in science to be adapted to need is key to successful lessons. What does this mean for your teachers planning, resources available and changes to the approach to learning in science.

This workshop will explore current provision for SEND and disadvantaged learners in science and identify strategies and tools that can support effective learning for SEND and disadvantaged learners in science lessons.

By the end of the session you will have:

Shared and reflected on successes and practice in science departments

Identified approaches from research that can support SEND and disadvantaged learners in science

Identified your teams next steps for development of their practice

Session – AI in science the advantages or drawbacks? 

The word of the moment AI, from JCQs perspective to how it is reducing workload for teachers, this session will explore what this can mean for teachers, pupils and families in science learning. Bring your top finds/tips and we will explore together the possibilities and pitfalls. How can you be confident that AI enhances learning in your department? What needs to be your next steps?

By the end of the session you will have:

Reflected on the current use of AI in your science department

Identified how your approach can impact on teaching strategies and pupils outcomes

Evaluated next steps to develop an impactful approach to AI in your team

Session - sharing best practice in groups

This session will be to have time to discuss questions tabled prior to the conference. Suggestions might be:

• Bridging gap between boys and girls in Science
• Improving exam results through exam analysis
• Implementing revision skills throughout the curriculum
• How are teams providing work to students with both short and long term absences. How are they checking that students have caught up when they return?
• Standardised approach to KS3 assessment
