Summary

    Develop subject knowledge and teaching strategies required to confidently deliver the algebra elements of the GCSE science specifications. You will apply these skills, using appropriate resources, in biology, physics and chemistry contexts. The course covers algebra basics, solving equations and rearranging equations.

·       substituting into an equation

Solving equations

·       explore what is it about solving equations that students find difficult.

·       examine methods for solving equations

·       linking formula triangles to proportional reasoning

Rearranging equations

·       explore what is it about rearranging equations that students find difficult.

·       examine methods for rearranging equations

·       using formulae to derive units

·       deriving the SUVAT equations
