Summary

PLEASE NOTE FOR THIS COURSE -

To obtain full value from the course, participants MUST remember to bring:

  • 2 microscopes needing a service (if possible 1 junior type and 1 A-Level type). You can unload at the school before parking your car.

NB Microscopes with a single coarse focus or a separate fine and coarse focus mechanism are most suitable for this course.  Stereo, coaxial focusing (coarse and fine focusing knobs mounted on the same axis) and more advanced university type microscopes are not appropriate.

Certain jobs e.g. repair/adjustment of the fine focus mechanism, may still require the services of a professional microscope technician.

  • An overall or lab coat to protect your clothes (some parts can be dirty and greasy).

And as many as possible of the following items:

  • A soft, lint-free rag.
  • A set of screwdrivers from small, instrument sizes up to that needed for the largest screws on the microscopes.
  • A set of Allen keys to fit the sockets on the microscopes.
