NPQs Leadership webinars from STEM Learning
Forming part of the NPQ programme for ‘Leading Teaching’ the STEM Learning webinars will provide participants with the opportunity to discover engaging primary subject-specific, support in science, mathematics and/or computing. By exploring best practice and interacting with research participants will be able to consider ‘where to start?’ in developing your approach to improving science, mathematics and/or computing in their school(s).
Each 90minute session will be led by a primary subject specific experts and will introduce participants to 3 key areas: Pedagogy; Curriculum and Assessment.
During these sessions participants will be asked to consider what science/ mathematics/computing provision is like in their school, and how to find out more through subject specific auditing. Subject leaders will also be able to use this information to develop a whole school action plan designed to improve teaching and learning in their chosen subject.
What topics are covered?
Leadership of Curriculum – discover the comprehensive Teach Computing Curriculum for all year groups, and how you can adapt it to the needs of your school. Consider a curriculum that builds computational thinking and creativity, linking computing across the curriculum and ensuring children are prepared for continued study in secondary school.
Leadership of Assessment – find out about quality-assured resources and guidance to improve assessment of digital skills and knowledge in computing while reducing workload.
Leadership of Pedagogy – develop strong subject-specific, evidence-based pedagogy for yourself by accessing professional development courses and guidance and consider how to support teaching colleagues without shouldering the entirety of the task.
