Summary

Session 1 - Managing Behaviour - 13th October 2022

  • You will discuss reasons for undesirable behaviour and how you can tackle problems to minimise disruption in lessons

Session 2 - Health and Safety - 17th November 2022

  • You will understand the basics of the Health and Safety at Work act and it’s requirements for your role as a science teacher
  • You be able to write a comprehensive SfL and learn where to find information about hazards of substances used

Session 3 - Purposeful Practical Work - 19th January 2023

  • You will have a deeper understanding of how practical’s can be delivered to ensure deep understanding of when to use them and some of the pitfalls that pupils may fall into

Session 4 - Misconceptions - 16th March 2023

  • You will learn what differentiation is and some tips and tricks to plan successfully to meet the needs of all learners

Session 5 - Intervention, Revision and Retention - 18th May 2023

  •  You will develop your understanding of key intervention strategies
  •  You will start to build a toolkit of revision and retention techniques to embed within your teaching

Session 6 - Extracurricular and Building Cultural Capital - 13th July 2023

  • You will be more confident in providing opportunities for STEM enrichment and links to employability skills
  • You will gain tips and tricks for planning and delivering successful science enrichment activities, to enable you to improvement engagement in your learners

All sessions 3:30-5pm.
