1. GCSE+ / A-Level Computer Science - Beyond the CSA
For many of us, the CSA is the starting point on our journey into teaching computer science. When we have the opportunity, there are possibilities beyond the basic knowledge that lets us stay 'one page ahead' of the students.
This session will cover:
  • The NCCE courses that contain 'more advanced' subject knowledge, pedagogy and leadership. (Including a 'taster' from one such course.)
  • The ISAAC Computer science resources for both GCSE and A-Level across all exam boards.
  • Additional resources, courses and events that supplement a full computing curriculum.

2. Python programming on the Raspberry Pi with Minecraft

This hands-on session uses some of the physical computing kit from the hubs and will show how to make Python fun using the popular game Minecraft, which is provided free on the Raspberry Pi.

Learn how to use programming constructs, variables and functions to make things happen in Minecraft. You will be given access to free teaching resources to help you recreate this in your own classroom, to support students.

3. Leading a Computing Department and preparing for Ofsted

With a focus on preparing evidence for Ofsted this session analyses the path to building an outstanding computing department focusing upon:

• Planning a curriculum with clear intent

• Embedding ambition across a department

• Focusing on diversity and inclusion

• Analysing the national curriculum standards and expectations across the key stages

• Reflecting upon your department using the quality framework tool.

4. Computing in EYFS and KS1 using programmable toys

• A chance to play with a variety of toys that can support the curriculum.

• Ideas for planning for both EYFS and KS1 and how it can be used in other subjects.

• Network with other EYFS and KS1 teachers and share ideas.
