Keynote Speaker  - Ant Snowden

Your Science Curriculum – Does it make full use of current evidence based best practice / How well does it reflect its function?

In recent years Ofsted have provided some useful insights into considering the science curriculum, these include:

  • Schemata and the importance of clear progression models for skills and concepts both within and between key stages
  • the elements of substantive and disciplinary knowledge, and how these two should interrelate in an effective curriculum.

These principles, together with other major research and development projects by groups such as ASE, Gatsby, Salters/University of York Science Education Group provides us with a strong evidence based foundation on which to build and review both our curriculum and classroom practice.

This will help Science Subject Leaders consider how they can be used to support the evolution of your school’s science curriculum.
