Linking Science with English & Maths RJ198 / C77

Summary

Can you make science fun while teaching key literacy and language skills and mathematical skills?

In this course, we demonstrate the wealth of opportunities for linking science, literacy and mathematics and how to engage children while generating curiosity and enthusiasm. We look at how you can develop children’s speaking, listening, writing and core mathematical skills through effective science teaching and how you can plan lessons in which children communicate their scientific ideas and learning. We examine at how you can track and assess children’s progression in literacy through science and how to plan lessons in which children handle and present data. We will also look at how you can track and assess children’s progression in mathematics through science. You will come away with lots of ideas and activities that will enable you to teach these key skills in a science context.
