Linking Science with Literacy: Using stories, poetry and films to engage science learners RJ198 / C73

Summary

Films, stories and poetry are an excellent way to engage children in science. Could your children help Peter Rabbit grow the largest carrot? Would they be able to identify which type of tree the Magic Faraway tree was? Perhaps they could work out why the fairy lights keep going out in Michael Rosen's poem. During the session we will explore  ways to teach science using children’s favourite films, books and poems whilst making creative links to other subject areas to deepen and asses the science curriculum.
