Summary

This course will provide an introduction to computer science covering First and Second level evidencing why it is so important for our learners.  It will provide practical workshops introducing and using Micro:bit version 2, allowing delegates to explore the purpose of a Micro:bit, how to programme the Micro:bit to carry out a range of tasks and how it can enhance computer science outcomes.

This course will develop skills and confidence needed to plan, facilitate and evaluate a Micro:bit project within your own class or setting.  The course comes with resources other materials required for use in the practical workshops.We will also share our learning via Microsoft Teams and consider a variety of useful websites/apps and other resources to further develop computer science learning.

  • confirmation of an offer of a place on the course together with details on enrolment procedures

  • a set of terms and conditions which you must meet in order to qualify for an ENTHUSE bursary

What topics are covered?

Design, build and test computing solutions. Sequencing of instructions using programmable devices. Problem solving skills - building simple programs to carry out given tasks using an appropriate language. A practical introduction to the Micro:bit version 2. Programming the Micro:bit to carry out a range of tasks to enhance computer science outcomes.
