Post-16 Remote National Science Network: Teaching and Learning in 2021-2022 RC529 / C07
Summary
As colleges and schools return to a more regular form of education, collaboration is more important than ever before. Through this unique collaboration between City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College, Abbeygate Sixth Form College and West Suffolk College you will have the opportunity to share information on teaching and learning, learn from others and navigate through the changing world of science in post 16 education. You will be provided with expert help from post 16 science practitioners to identify priority issues, signpost support and will be able to develop solutions, drawing on the expertise of others within the group.
Employer engagement
In this remote network meeting, we will focus on employer engagement and how industry expertise can be used to support and enhance the science curriculum.
We will hear from:
STEM Ambassador Hubs, discussing examples of the support that they provide in linking schools and colleges to STEM-based employers
Schools and colleges providing case studies of how they have successfully brought industry to the classroom and linked their curriculum to employers
While the pandemic has undoubtedly presented a number of challenges to employer engagement, it has also provided some opportunities. We will be sharing ideas and strategies that can be used in your own school or college and consider how you can provide a well-balanced curriculum that includes a ‘clear line of sight’ to careers and STEM-based employers.
