Summary

Course outline: The equations of uniform motion (“suvat”) are usually taught early in the A level course and can be a challenge for students, especially those not studying maths. This one-hour course is for those new to teaching A level, or those in need of a refresher. It aims to strengthen the subject knowledge needed to teach this key topic in mechanics. You will explore ways of building student understanding and tackling misconceptions, together with techniques for teaching.

You will be:

  •  Able to recall and use the Suvat equations in an increasingly complex set of problems
  • Aware of the most common misconceptions which students have in tackling Suvat questions
  • Equipped with a toolkit to guide students through this topic.

This is part of a series of 3 workshops which will  help you gain confidence in your understanding of physics and your ability to teach it engagingly. You will be introduced to lots of ideas and resources to help in your teaching and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Book for all 3 to gain real immersion in the subject or pop into individual workshops for help with a particular topic.
