STEMFirst is an award winning Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths consultancy.
We are delighted to have been sponsored by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) Science Festival to offer our award winning Engineering Fairy Tales training to Primary Schools in Burnley.
Please come to our virtual session on the29th September from 4:15pm to 5:30pm
This virtual session will enable Teachers to find out more about this fantastic resource that links STEM to Literacy and Numeracy, using traditional tales to undertake fun hands-on Design, Technology and Science activities.
We will be using the ZOOM platform - and a meeting link with all the log in details will be sent at least a week before the meeting date.
All teachers booking onto the session will receive a copy of the Fairy Tale resources , however this is for Burnley Primary and Secondary schools only so please book our alternative session on the 19th October if you are NOT a Burnley School. Please note however that you will only receive access to the virtual resources on that session.
NOTE: We are limited to one resource per school - multiple teachers from the same school can attend the training, only one copy of the resource can be posted out. We can only provide 20 sets of resources and we would like to have as many schools as possible take part!

The costs of our Engineering Fairy Tales book have kindly been covered by the University of Central Lancashire.
Sessions will include:
  • Understanding of STEM and Skills in everyday life
  • How to link Literacy and Numeracy with STEM
  • Overview of a range of x8 STEM Challenges
  • A copy of our FREE Engineering Fairy Tales resource book and planning sheets
  • The chance to meet STEM Ambassador volunteers from industry and find out how they can support your school.

The STEM Sessions are suitable for Early Years all the way through to KS3 depending on how the activity is differentiated in school. The book itself contains 8 activities that can be undertaken in a whole-class setting over a term or could provide x8 weeks work of STEM Club activity. Each activity also looks at stereotypes and confronts issues around what engineers do all day and what do they look like.These sessions are suitable for Science, STEM, Primary Teachers, Careers Leads and STEM Curriculum Leaders.All activities are underpinned by 'Working Scientifically ' , 'Scientific Enquiry', 'Employability Skills' and for Secondary can help meet the Gatsby Careers Benchmarks 2, 4, 5 & 6.Please get involved!
