Summary
In the free 1 hour session, we will explore the latest resource produced by the Royal Academy of Engineering called ‘Engineering in a Pandemic’.
The resource includes twenty individual packs of equipment each with a student guide which allows students to explore how engineers have responded to the challenges created by COVID 19 through a range of hands on activities. These include looking into the structure of viruses, how lateral flow tests work and the design of respirators as well as many others. There is also a teacher guide and videos available which can be accessed post session to help with delivery of the activities.
For each activity carried out students can apply for a digital stem badge. These can be linked to students online profiles and applications as evidence of the skills they have developed through interacting with the challenges.
The resource has activities suitable for KS2, 3 and 4.
On signing up for CPD session colleagues can order a sample pack of the resource in order to familiarise themselves with it prior to the training.
