Summary

Return to school feeling confident about teaching science. This course will provide a manageable approach to planning and teaching primary science in key stage 1 (KS1). You will explore ways of bringing the KS1 curriculum to life through practical ideas and discussion tasks. Carefully planned gap tasks have been designed to help you prepare for the year ahead and enable you to develop effective learning opportunities for the children in your class.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • create a manageable approach to teaching science in KS1
  • identify children's gaps in science knowledge and understanding 
  • identify practical approaches to teaching subject-specific content in KS1
  • describe common misconceptions and consider strategies for dealing with them
