Summary
This session will look at the importance of practical work at primary school and will talk through the health and safety procedures that need to be followed prior to the delivery of the lessons. It will also provide useful suggestions of practical activities can easily be carried out in a classroom to help enthuse primary school students as well as teaching students the key scientific skills detailed in the national curriculum. In addition there will be links to useful websites that have resources that can be used in the classroom.
Outcomes
- You will gain a knowledge of what the new framework and the "deep dives" will look like in your own school setting
- Develop an awareness of effective strategies to support the new framework with colleagues in outreach work
- Opportunity to network with colleagues in a similar role across both primary and secondary phases
- We will also have the opportunity to discuss the challenges of being a science SLE trying to support collegues during the pandemic
