Summary

Join us for this Virtual National Science Practical Conference for science teachers over two afternoons (1 - 3.30pm).

The events we are proposing to happen on each afternoon are below (subject to change). We are thrilled that Peter Fairhurst, Curriculum Specialist in Science Education at the University of York, has agreed to present on the first afternoon. We will also be joined by Elise from the AQA exam board.

Wednesday 2nd December

1 – 2pm Peter Fairhurst: Latest research on 'Practical Assessment in School Science' (PASS)

2 – 3pm Elise Reece: AQA GCSE; supporting students access to practical questions

3 – 3.30pm Lowri Puttick: Practical work in covid times, using a visualiser

 

Wednesday 9th December

1 – 2pm Catherine Witter: AQA A Level: strategies to access common practical assessment criteria (CPAC) safely within covid GL343 CLEAPSS guidance

2 – 3pm Lowri Puttick: Delivering fit for purpose meaningful practical work safely with the current restrictions using 'slow practicals'

3 – 3.30pm Plenary with Technicians

 

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • discuss current good practice in secondary science
  •  network with colleagues from across your area
  •  reflect on ways to translate ideas to your school context and plan for action
