Summary
This session will look at the barriers in learning of Science. Time will be spent looking at the importance of language in the teaching of science. It will focus on the importance of adapting lessons to suit the ability of individuals whilst still maintaining high expectations for all and the role of ‘scaffolding’ and ‘differentiation’ in delivering the complex subject matter.

- Develop an awareness of the importance of language in teaching and learning in science
- Be given ideas of how to adapt lessons using the ‘scaffolding’ approach to ensure students gain and an understanding of the difficult science concepts
- Be given strategies of how to differentiate teaching resources to support low ability learners.
